FAQ
Do I need a Partner to attend?
No, a partner is not required to participate. We encourage you to rotate in class and dance with others throughout a class/event. Culturally, Brazilian Zouk and Lambada are social dances. It is typical to see partners switch, and to see family relatives dancing with each other.
What do i wear to classes or events?
Comfortable clothing that allows for full range of movement. Yoga/gym attire work well. Shoes with flexible soles are recommended, but not required. Socks work well too. Avoid heels and shoes with rubber soles that slow down on-the-spot turning.
Do I need dance experience to learn this?
Not at all! While experience in other dances may help it is not a requirement. We are skilled at accommodating all levels, including beginners and dancers from other style (like salsa, bachata, WCS, tango, etc). Our open-level classes benefit from various levels of dancers in one room, training workshop-style together. We will indicate when a class/event is recommended for beginners versus experienced dancers.
Those head movements look beautiful but scary! Do I have to do them?
We invite you to execute movement that feels comfortable to your body. Avoid movement that does not feel good/natural. Zouk and Lambada can be enjoyed without head movement.
